Vercingétorix était un célèbre chef Gaulois du clan arvernes (actuellement de la région Auvergne), du premier siècle avant J.-C. Son nom réel - Vercingétorix veut dire le grand roi des guerriers - n’est pas connu, parce que le Gaulois croyaient que le nom de naissance possède pouvoirs spéciaux.
